Use Apprenticeship.gov and state or provincial apprenticeship authorities to find recognized programs, then contact the sponsor directly. Confirm recruitment status, prerequisites, selection, paid work, related instruction, wage progression, probation, completion credential, and any costs before applying.

Search by occupation and commuting range
Occupation names and sponsor titles vary, so search several related terms and identify where work is dispatched. A program may be registered but not currently recruiting, and a listing does not promise selection.
Verify sponsor and registration
Confirm the sponsor and program with the responsible government apprenticeship office. Apply using the sponsor’s official instructions, and be cautious when a separate school charges for supposed guaranteed access to a competitive apprenticeship.
Read the full progression
Ask about probation, work availability, related instruction, wage steps, required tools, travel, layoff handling, credit for prior experience, and the credential at completion. Paid learning still carries time, transport, and equipment costs.
Prepare a parallel route
Recruitment can be periodic. While waiting, strengthen required math, driving, safety, or mechanical foundations through low-cost options that do not claim to guarantee sponsor acceptance.
